Innovative AC vacuum circuit breaker from JGGY
JGGY jingao High Voltage electrical has launched a special innovation: 12kv 24kv 36kv VSG series AC vacuum circuit breakers, which can connect the overhead line voltage almost without any secondary power supply.
The energy required for the operation of the VSG series AC vacuum circuit breaker is stored in a coil spring, which is mechanically locked. To release it, a solenoid trip coil is activated, which requires very little power to activate it, even from a nearly dead battery.
VSG series vacuum circuit breaker
VSG series vacuum circuit breakers are used as main switches and protection devices for AC driven railway vehicles. It is mainly installed on the roof between the pantograph and the main transformer.
The new VSG series is designed to interrupt high current circuits and act as a circuit breaker against short circuits and overload conditions. It is mainly used on new locomotives, but also as a replacement for existing air circuits and vacuum circuit breakers. In this case, the replacement can be done without any modification to the roof design.
Vacuum circuit breaker with energy storage mechanism
The main feature of the VSG is its mechanism of storing energy for a fast, aggressive closing action. The energy required to move the main contacts is stored by compressing strong coil springs attached to the circuit breaker contact assemblies.
When the stored energy trips, the electric motor charges the spring in less than ten seconds and locks the operating mechanism, making the circuit breaker ready for the next closing operation. The latch can now be operated to release the spring and the spring pressure will close the circuit breaker.
Trip Latch Mechanism
The trip latch mechanism is operated remotely via the solenoid trip coil, so all that is required to trip the circuit breaker is the small amount of power required to energize the trip coil.
Once the main contacts of the circuit breaker are closed, they are held in that position by the electromagnetic trip latch. However, if the control signal fails or the power supply fails, the operating mechanism is unlocked and a set of return springs mechanically forces the closed circuit breaker contacts open, disconnecting the power supply from the electrical load (fail-safe principle).
There is an electronic control unit that monitors the state of the main contacts, controls the spring-loaded motor, and ensures fail-safe operation even in emergency situations. Provides an interface to the railway vehicle control circuit.
